Spin A Yarn India publishes short stories, articles, plays, poems and activities by children for children.
Artists on our eligibility list are sent texts to illustrate throughout the year, including poems, stories, plays, nonfiction articles and activities.
We value a broad range of styles (particularly, at the moment, realistic styles, and a light-hearted/whimsical approach to nonfiction articles).
We publish fantasy, humour, folktales, historical drama, sci-fi and a mixture of these genres.
Our readers are in the 6–13 year-old reading age range, so illustrations must be appropriate and engaging and appealing to readers across this age range.
Tips for Illustrators

Illustrate for our readers: most are Indian children between the ages of 6 and 13. Remember that Spin A Yarn India aims to reflect the diversity and inclusivity of the Indian society.
Carefully consider how you portray teachers, schools and controversial topics—our magazines are often read in classrooms.
